Grey Owl

Grey Owl is a famous Canadian historical figure and used to live in Biscotasing. He was born Archibald Stansfeld Belaney and claimed his mother was Apache, thus taking the aboriginal name Grey Owl. He worked for the National Park Service and became a very popular writer, public speaker and conversationalist.

He lived from 1888 to 1938 and died in Price Albert, Saskatchewan at the age of 49.

After his death his background was researched and there is no proof that his mother had any Apache blood. His Scottish father did live in the USA for a few years and lived in Apache country so who knows.
